The Virginia Beach Technical and Career Education Center was founded in September of 1972 and aims to provide 11th and 12th grade students with an abundance of career-training opportunities. Over the past 43 years, the Tech Center has focused primarily on career preparation and maximizing employability for all of its students. Virginia Beach School of Practical Nursing serves students from all surrounding 11 VBCPS high schools in addition to adult students who are enrolled in the LPN program. The LPN program is available to open to both high school seniors and adults. It’s an 18-month program that seeks to turn students into highly qualified healthcare professions.

Admission Requirements:

Adult Applicants: Due to the limited number of seats available in the program, adult students are admitted on a case by case basis. Only applicants who are seeking nursing licensure for the first time will be considered.

  • Submit the following documents with application by the deadline:
    • Official High School transcript or official GED transcript. Transcripts will need to have an official seal and signature from granting institution.
    • All non-English transcripts and high school transcripts which have been awarded in a foreign country must be evaluated by an agency that determines if they meet the equivalency standards of a U. S. high school education at—this must be paid for by the applicant.
    • Successful completion of the TEAS Nursing exam with an adequate score determined by program administrators.

ECPI University - Virginia Beach

ECPI University – Virginia Beach, originally founded in Norfolk, Virginia in 1966 is a private higher learning institution. The university was initially created as an institution which offered students programs in accelerated computer science and programming. Later it expanded and offered programs which included Health Sciences, Culinary Arts, Electronics Engineering Technology and Nursing. The LPN degree program gives its students the proper foundation for life-long professional and personal development based on science, liberal arts and nursing theory courses. Included in the program are classroom (didactic), labs and evidence-based clinical care learning experiences which prepare students to take care of a variety of patients in a variety of settings.
