Attending a nursing program approved by the Florida Board of Nursing is the first step to becoming an LPN in the state. Only graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX exam. Other individuals eligible to take the exam include:

    • Graduates of an MSN or higher program or educational equivalent.
    • Certificates of completion for practical nurse training in a registered nursing program.
    • Graduate from a military nursing education program.
    • Registered nurses from Canada who've pass the Canadian Nurses Association Testing Services Examination after August 8, 1995.

Applicants must submit their applications with the appropriate fees to the Board of Nursing before test registration. Electronic fingerprinting is required of all applicants.
