Most bridge students should plan on three to four additional semesters beyond their LPN certificate to reach an ADN, depending on how many general education and science prerequisites they've already completed. Moving on to a BSN through a university partnership typically adds another two to three semesters after the ADN. Credit transfer isn't automatic. Programs evaluate LPN coursework individually, and older certificates sometimes require refresher exams or updated clinical hours.
Working while you bridge
Staying employed as an LPN during a bridge program is standard practice, not an exception. Many East Valley employers offer schedule flexibility or tuition assistance specifically because they want to retain nurses through the transition, and the income helps offset the added tuition and fees that come with RN-level coursework.
